    Very interesting article regarding MPOD as a posible identifier of risk factors for the development for Age-related Macular Degeneration.

    Another study have shown that it really doesn't matter how much lutein and zeaxanthin is in your diet (they tested participants and their spouses), the increase in MPOD was more closely related to the Lycopene content in the bloodstream. Study authors suggest that the Lycopene helps the carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin get to and be absorbed by the macula.
