Default I need a break. Who wants to play?

Donchya sometimes get tired of all the drama and negativity on ODWire? I'll admit that the entertainment value of all the drama satisfies something deep within the dark, scary recesses of my soul, but I often find my BP elevated with some of the nonsense. It's time to lighten up!

I read a lot (but not all) of the topics and only comment when I'm in the mood. But the thread "worst songs ever" (or whatever it was called) and "should O.D.s lighten up?" got me thinking. Everyone is invited to play. So here's the game:

Best THEME Songs Ever: The first category (since I'm makin' this **** up) will be "Cartoons/Animation" The first 5 (FIVE) nominees to be received will be voted upon. Who ever nominated the one that receives first place gets to decide the category and nominee for the next round. Categories can be whatever you think might garner further interest: Sit-Coms, Cop Shows, Dramas, Soaps, Sci-Fi, etc., etc., etc. This could be like a perpetual-chain-thread-thingy.

I'll keep up with the votes, and see if there's any interest and where this goes. To start 'er up, I nominate: the theme song from "The Flintstones."

    Who (what) is number 2?

What raises my BP is getting 4 girls one of which is a baby ready and out the door on time and getting them fed and bathed and in bed on time at night on my own or having multiple types of accidents at once to sort out. You could never imagine.

The best cartoon song is Madeline, from the books about the little girl from Paris. "I'm Madeline, I'm Madeline, I may be very small, I'm Madeline, I'm Madeline, inside I am tall..." So cute! We have our our Madeline named after her.

Popeye the Sailor is a fictional hero famous for appearing in comic strips and animated films as well as numerous TV shows. He was created by Elzie Crisler Segar and first appeared in the daily King Features comic strip Thimble Theatre on January 17, 1929.
Although Segar's Thimble Theatre strip, first published on December 19, 1919, was in its tenth year when Popeye made his debut, the sailor quickly became the main focus of the strip and Thimble Theatre became one of King Features' most popular strips during the 1930s. Thimble Theatre was carried on after Segar's death in 1938 by several writers and artists, including Segar's assistant Bud Sagendorf. The strip, now titled Popeye, continues to appear in first-run installments in Sunday papers, written and drawn by Hy Eisman. The daily strips are reprints of old Sagendorf stories.
In 1933, Max and Dave Fleischer's Fleischer Studios adapted the Thimble Theatre characters into a series of Popeye the Sailor theatrical cartoon shorts for Paramount Pictures. These cartoons proved to be among the most popular of the 1930s, and the Fleischers—and later Paramount's own Famous Studios—continued production through 1957.

I don't know if these played much in the USA, but in Canada we had these little 5 minute shorts called "The Mighty Hercules" and it had a totally awesome theme song. You can't beat "iron in his thighs."

Mighty Mouse is also certainly a good one though Kaufman gets most of the credit for that.

Clearly, Madeline is the best cartoon theme song. Too bad I don't know how to put a link to it with my mobile phone, but that is the only internet that I have. So, can we just say that I have won?

Gee, Kristin......hard to declare it a winner when I've never heard of it! I thought this would get more interest. Anyone remember the theme song from "The Jetson's"? That was a good one.....so was the instrumental only theme song from "Jonny Quest."

Why don't you pick the next category and give us a nomination. Something not too obscure this time!

Girls rock! Back at you, Ken.

Thanks, David! Ok, for the next theme song, what would be a theme song for if there were a movie made about your life.

Mine is "Beyond the Sea" by Bobby Darin. Try to top that one!

I've been thinking about having my assistant play the theme from Rocky on her iPhone as I enter exam rooms to get me and my patients pumped up for their exams, so I guess that would be it.
