Clarity: The letters in some acuity programs are not crisp, in the Sharp VA Digital Acuity system they are. The optotypes we have selected & implemented into our acuity testing software are perfectly clear. Each letter in our program is based on many vectors (not images). For that reason, our letter size can be increased or decreased using geometrical calculations. So, no blurring or pixilation of the optotype occurs. The result: clarity.Continue reading for more info on our unusual & innovative technology.
About the Sharp VA Digital Acuity Technology
You’ve probably seen a computer image that has been enlarged/changed size…it becomes pixilated; and thus, you probably should consider monitor quality & image quality if you’re presenting something as important as optotypes. It seems silly to me to create optotypes out of images that can be distorted. The Sharp VA software is the only acuity software to employ “object-oriented graphics” (vector graphics) for each optotype. Vector graphics use geometrical primitives such as lines, points, and curves. Each optotype is based on geometrical calculations, so one can indefinitely zoom in on our optotypes and they remain crisp. This can be verified with a magnifying loupe. The "sharpness" of the optotypes is limited only by the quality of the monitor (not by image file quality & monitor quality as in other acuity programs). When it comes to presenting optotypes, this seems pretty important to me.
What's Included in this Auction?
Sharp VA Digital Acuity v3 Software
Custom Sharp VA Remote Control (FREE!)
SS Media Player Software (FREE)
SS SlideShow Software (FREE)—this can be used for patient education or advertising/promoting products. It can be left running (cycling through image files or just display one file) while you are out of the room, before the patient gets in the room. One doc (an OD Wire Member!) said that he would take about 10 minutes the day before & create an image file for each patient he was going to see. The image file had text: “Hello 'Patient's Name', welcome and please take a seat. I will be with you in a minute or two!” ….wow, talk about good PR! The patients loved it because it was so personal!
How Does the Remote Work? The remote comes with a small infrared receiver that connects to the computer via USB port. Many docs will run this software on a laptop in the exam room with an additional monitor connected (for pt viewing). This gives the practitioner two monitors in the exam room. (S)he may use the laptop (located by the practitioner's side) for easy viewing, and patient education.
