New trigger wire was installed. Here's what the service tech said. "The unit is able to take readings again after replacing the trigger wire and fires normally in the manual mode (pressing the button). In Auto mode (taking readings automatically without pressing the button), the K readings sometimes experience an error. This is a software/calibration issue and as the unit is a Nikon instrument there is no option for factory service to remedy this, but the unit does still work 100% normally in the manual mode." I've still had a couple of times when it won't measure K's, but its still a good autorefractor.
