This is a young programme (6 years old) in Optometry trying to develop further into a full-fledged school. In order to achieve this goal additional academic personnel are needed.
Applications are thus invited for the Position of Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Optometry
Postgraduate qualification in optometry or optometry related field such a Master of sciences, Ph.D. or a professional doctorate such as an OD or MD.
Experience in a teaching/research in the field of Optometry or Optometry related field would be preferred. We have particular interest in applicants with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
I. Visual Science/Visual Optics
II. Public Health/Primary Eye Care
III. Binocular Vision
IV. Low Vision
V. Management of Ocular Disease
Experienced individuals who may be interested in spending a semester in residence should also apply.
This is a new programme and the selected candidate is expected to work closely with the staff in the Faculties of Medical Sciences in providing quality leadership in teaching and curriculum development in Optometry in the Optometry Programme
as well as in graduate continuing education programmes. The selected candidate is encouraged to develop an active research programme and attract external research and development funding.
The successful candidate must be able to work in a multidisciplinary team environment and must possess strong interpersonal and patient management.
