NORTH ADAMS - After 50 years of helping the area see better, a local optometrist plans to prescribe his last pair of lenses next June. Dr. Irving J. Tanzman, who began practicing optometry in the city in January 1961, said Tuesday he has been working part-time since he partially retired six years ago and would now like to retire completely.
