That reflects very badly on government run capitated healthcare. It sounds worse than VSP and Eyemed and its clones.

Actions versus words is the paradigm. I do not like the idea of not seeing patients. But the government apparently ignored the ODs. Optometry discounts itself. This action sends a constant message supporting the status quo.

I think in this case supporting the status quo would be continuing to see the urgent care patients for substandard pay. The government had six years to do something about it but chose not to. Stinks that patients get caught in the middle of it but these ODs had virtually no other options.

I was referring to discounting ourselves as the status quo. This sends a consistent message to payers that we feel we are worth less.

Or maybe they don't care if we "feel" anything. They just know the math of the situation. It's currently a non-negotiable 'take it or leave' situation. Haggling is out.

I concur. What would we haggle? A 50% increase would still be very little up from very little.
