Orlando. Sandy Hook. Aurora. San Bernardino.

What do these horrific shootings have in common? Assault weapons.

Assault weapons were used to murder at least 49 people in Orlando, 26 people in Sandy Hook, 12 people in Aurora, and 14 people in San Bernardino.

Right now, these mass-killing weapons are available for purchase on-line, at trade shows, and at gun brokers across our nation. They have become the weapon of choice for mass shooters.

Assault weapons have no place in our cities and towns. No place on our streets.

We need to ban all assault weapons now, while moving quickly to enact common sense gun reform.

A petition to The United States House of Representatives, The United States Senate, and President Barack Obama, which says:

"Assault weapons should not be used by civilians and have no place in our cities and towns."

We read your first post. You can stop now.

Use your brain. Don't let emotional knee jerks control your actions. Hands and feet kill more than twice as many people each year than "assault weapons" as do knifes and clubs. Unless an "assault weapon" is anything used to assault someone.

No doubt, it seems that many like, enjoy and use the non-optometric forum. It is a good thing Paul did not shut it down.

A quick look back at the past 7 days usage will verify this. Or, we can always discuss prescribing for a young hyperope. Which is more fun?

I saw something on Youtube this morning in which the narrator was discussing the tragedy and shame of one fanatic murdering 50 innocent people. Instead - he argued - there should have been 50 people putting bullets into the fanatic.

Sounds like a good solution to me.

I keep going back to the tragedy at Fort Hood and that servicemen and women were not allowed to carry firearms on base. Who made up that rule?

Very interesting. I wonder if police staff are allowed to carry a side arm at the police station?
