What have your pets been up to lately?

I have a whole bunch of dogs. Here's Champs in a fake obedient pose;

Here's how he usually looks. Most disobedient dog I've ever had. In this pic I am having to grab him and pull him away from digging for a squirrel.

How did the squirrel get him to dig for him? :rolleyes:

The two on the right are mine, the one on the left is my "step dog" that was just visiting. Odon, the Shelty on the right, was young there. He's bigger and a lot fluffier now.

He's beautiful! He looks fairly big? And that coat is so shiney.

My dogs love to roll in smelly stuff. Champs, even likes to get sprayed by skunks. He's gotten sprayed 3 times and one time a skunk missed so he went over and rolled in the stink. Tomato juice and hydrogen peroxide mixed together have worked the best for me in getting rid of the smell.

I like the pic of red going to Austin. Looks like he is driving. Here's one where Scrappy looks like he is part of a log;

Here's one of my favorite pics of Champs. I didn't have the camera pointed straight so all you see is his mischievous head at the bottom;

I hike and camp out a lot with my dogs and going through the brush sometimes they get a lot of burrs so I don't have any dogs with good coats. (Once I wore short pants in a burr area and had just as many burrs as my dog on my leg hairs. It was rough getting them out because most of the time I'd pull hairs out trying to get the burr off.)These little burrs actually taste good. I tried a few and it had a nice mild peppery taste with a slight wood flavor. I thought it would be interesting to grind a bunch up and use as a topping in a cooking contest to see if the judge could tell what the taste was. Morel mushrooms grow in some of our hiking areas and I like to dry them out, grind them to powder in a coffee grinder and use as a flavoring on pizza or omelets.

A neighbor has a bunch of Shelty's. They seem a lot more intelligent than my dogs. Those Labs and Beagles sure have cute smiles!

If that is a Jack Russell it is "in the blood". LOL.

This is our pooch. Stella girl our very sweet beagle. She lives in an optometric household. So...

I never realized Beagles came in different sizes. My son promised me a small dog...we ended up with a 40 lb Beagle by the time he was fully grown! Stella looks more petite? Adorable family member❤and apparently optometric oriented.

Butch, the beagle my family had when I was little, was huge. Easily 40 lbs if not more. Most beagles I've met since have been more in the 25 lb range at the most.

Stella is a joiner. She is up for doing whatever you are doing. This our 3rd beagle. My first was when I was a child. They are mostly great pets. The only caveat is that they don't generally walk well off leash because they want to start tracking. This other downside to beagles is that they shed. Oh well.

We got our last beagle, Lady Girl, from a pet store, against the warnings of others. We went through a breeder for Stella. I am told they are two categories 13-15 inches, and 15+. Stella's ideal weight is under 25 lbs. If we are not careful she could easily pack on the pounds and be up to 40 as a little tubby.

This was our prior beagle, Lady girl. She was sick at the time of this picture. She developed kidney failure.

Do you mean fat, or larger? Some hounds are called Coon hounds, and are larger maybe 40-50 lbs or more and are a very good size for hunting.

Those beagles might have the kindest eyes of all.

I thank God there aren't porcupines around here. I've had two dogs get bit by rattlesnakes and even though they had had the rattlesnake vaccine we went ahead and gave them the anti-venom also. The vaccine doesn't guarantee your dog will survive it just improves their chances. The anti-venom and overnight pet hospital stay will set you back around $2000.

Boy those raccoons sure can make weird noises. First time I heard some I thought it was aliens.

Here's another one of my dogs, Penny, about 10 pounds big. She thinks she is a miniature coyote.

Well, aren't you the smart one today???

We have 2 big dogs, 8 chickens, and up to 10 cats, hence my pussy-loving talk. My LOL (little orange lover) is my man, and is not happy when there is no place to sleep next to me (because the BOL [big orange lover, lab] or the huMAN are too close).
