We have lost great heros with the crash of Columbia.

Can it be 17 years since the Challenger disaster? That tragedy, sticks in the memory of many ODs in practice then. On January 28, 1986 the explosion and crash took the lives of some wonderful people.

One person on board was Judith A. Resnick (1949 -1986) a PhD Electrical Engineer and only the second woman to venture into space. Her dad was an OD. I looked it the directory to see if I could find an OD who practices in Akron, Ohio with the same last name. No luck!

If any one has additional information as to the whereabouts of Dr. Resnick please let me know. If he is still with us, the events yesterday must be doubly painful to him and his wife.

I'm certain if they are still alive, not a day goes by, when they do not think of their loss. This newest crash reiminded me, that we must not only pay tribute to those lost, but must consider the pain of those left behind.

Death is always sad, but violent death in the prime years, is tragic. Rest in peace "Crew of Columbia".
