Oh, and a heads-up: CEwire2019 is on the schedule, January 26th & 27th, 2019! (click on that link to fill out your e-mail address, and it'll send you an e-mail when registration opens.)

CEwire2019 is going to be 50 COPE approved credits, as usual! We're making some changes this year, including cutting down the number of 2-hour classes, so we can have an even wider variety of topics and speakers at the show.

    Thanks!

    And there is more!

For those who took CEwire2018 but did not have time to complete all the courses you have a second chance at no charge!

Review the roster of the CEwireEncore speakers. These ODs, MDs and PhDs are the very best.

Spend a few minutes sampling their presentations. You won't be disappointed.

I was going to go to the Myrtle Beach NC society meeting in June until I found out that they are reducing from 18 credit hours to 15. I have now missed the real time January CE wire meeting. IF I sign up for the program now, will the recordings still count as CE credit eligible or did I have to attend the live classes for COPE credits? Are the tests still available?

Ken: Cewire2019.com still runs with fully approved COPE credits until July 1st. The live credit portion is done. A few States require "Live Interactive" which was the live portion. "Enduring" COPE credits have been approved and as I said will run until July 1st. The tests are the same as the live 2 day event and CEwire2019 has 57 COPE approved credits. The credits will be sent for you to ARBO once you take the course and pass the tests at a 70% level. I hope that helps

    Steve,
Do you happen to know if Vermont is one of the states that require "Live interactive" or if they will accept "Enduring" COPE credits?

This is from the state regulations. It appears looking at the last paragraph that our platform would qualify but it is a bit unclear. To be clear I would call the state board:

Continuing Education Requirements (a) As a condition of renewal all licensees are required to complete continuing education as set forth below: (1) Licensees who do not hold an endorsement permitting use of therapeutic pharmaceutical agents must complete 20 hours of continuing education. (2) Licensees who hold an endorsement permitting use of therapeutic pharmaceutical agents must complete 40 hours of continuing education of which 20 hours shall be in the use of therapeutic pharmaceutical agents, including treating possible complications arising from their use, and the treatment of glaucoma.

    (b) “Continuing education” means the direct participation of an optometrist in a structured educational format taught by qualified presenters. Continuing education has significant intellectual and practical content directed at maintaining the professional competence of optometrists. Continuing education as used in this Part does not include practice management courses or programs.

    (c) Permitted continuing education programs may include classroom style instruction, educational seminars with substantial written material available, whether conducted by live speakers, lecturers, panel members, video or audio tape presentation, in a classroom setting with a group of not fewer than three individuals, or on line.

Thank you for this information. It seems that it would not be a problem. I have submitted live interactive CE from CEwire in the past. They had no problem with that. As long as COPE documents it, I will definitely participate this year.

    Regards,
