The Academy Awards nominations are out and two notable movies, Dark Knight and Gran Torino, were blanked. Benjamin Button, on the other hand, got 13 nominations.
My 2 cents: Everybody I have talked to thought Heath Ledger's portrayal of The Joker in the Dark Knight was absolutely riveting and a shoo in for the AW.
Gran Torino shows that Clint Eastwood still is one of the premier movie makers in the business, even at his advanced age. Admittedly it wasn't politically correct, but it worked on several levels. Politically incorrect movies don't get nominated. A great movie of the past that didn't get nominated was Mikhail Barishnikov's White Nights, an awesome movie that made the Soviets look bad.
P.S. I was wrong on Heath Ledger. He did get nominated for best supporting actor.
