Optometrists see red as province refuses to cover eye exam costs - OrilliaMatters

Kudos to these ODs in Ontario for having the cojones to stand up for themselves. $44 for an eye exam on a geriatric is absurdly low. Wish ODs here in the states would do the same with VCPs....or would that be considered collusion?

and don’t forget...that’s 44 CDN. Even worse.

an eye exam is literally reimbursed at a lower rate than a case of Molson costs.

Reminds me of a depressing story Dr. Robert Lidkea (Ontario's oldest practicing optometrist, since 1952) told me about a classmate of his that quit optometry in the 1950's to get a better paying job at "The Beer Store." :eek:
