Progress Report on Community Developement

Seniordoc.org is in existence less than 3 weeks. We have achieved our goal of having 50 registrants participate in the test phase.

The profile of the community is the following:

70% Full time Optometric Clinicians/Educators and Academicians

20% Retirees - most still active in organizational activities and writing for Optometric publications.

10% non-ODs but who work closely with ODs utilizing their expertise.

In addition to the OD degree the following degrees are represented in our original test community.

MD, Ph.D, M.B.A.,M.P.H. and J.D.

Many community members will participate in the discussions , some will wait to answer specific questions in their area of expertise and a few might decide to remain in the community as as anonymous observers. Only the Webmaster and and the Administrator know the identity of all the members of the community.Privacy shall be respected until an individual posts a message either as a new topic or as a reply.

The next few weeks will have conversations among the community members and then the site will be offered to the Optometric community in February.

A bit more on the profile of our community.

The site is international in scope, with members from Canada,Australia and South Africa. We shall solicit participants from Europe and Asia as well during the coming month. The more view points the better.

Our non -optometric experts will be on hand to discuss Medical questions,the more complicated aspects of Business Administration, Practice Management and Business Developement.In addition a commercial Real Estate Expert will be on hand to discuss office leases and sale of commercial property.

Our Optometrists, who have specialized expertise, are nationally recognized in Education, Public Health, Vision Therapy ,Refractive Surgery and Contact Lens care. There should be very few questions that can not be answered by this prestigious group of experts.
