The membership during the first month is limited to under 50 individuals. The purpose of the small number is to control any web site problems and be certain the site is user friendly. So far the problems have been minimal. The community has in it, representatives of Clinicians,Educators, Editors and retired ODs who are still very active in Organized Optometry.
The membership is anonymous until a participant posts in a Forum. Prior to that time only myself and Adam, the Webmaster can communicate with each registrant. Some will wish to only observe rather than contribute. This perfectly acceptable, but I hope the topics will be so stimulating and possibly controversial that no one will wish to remain on the sidelines.
I was asked, if only ODs will be in the Private Forums. Most accepted in the Private Forums will be ODs and International Optometrists with appropriate credentials. There are a few select individuals, because of unique skills and knowledge, combined with close a working relationship to Optometry, who are part of the community.
For example, Adam our Webmaster, is not an optometrist. Since you may have some dealings with him, if there are technical questions, it might be advantageous to introduce him.

Although he spends much of his time travelling, his computer is with him and he will be available to solve problems, as they arise, as well as contribute to Forums where his medical, business administration or computer knowledge will benefit the community.
We shall be pleased to welcome others with skills to add to the mix for the community benefit. I hope the next few weeks before the site is offered to the optometric community is filled with interesting conversations.
